Dr. Amanda Jacobs is a Birmingham Optometrist who provides care of LASIK patients at Michelson Laser Vision. She received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. She then earned her Doctorate in Optometry (O.D.) degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2006. While at UAB, she was elected to membership in Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Jacobs began her career in the field of refractive surgery and LASIK Surgery patient care immediately upon graduation. Dr. Jacobs provided refractive surgical evaluations including pre and post op care at LASIK PLUS in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2008, she joined the staffs of Alabama Eye and Cataract Center, P.C. and Michelson Laser Vision, Inc. in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Jacobs’ expertise is evaluation and management of refractive surgical patients including LASIK Eye Surgery, Epi-LASIK and PRK.
Dr. Jacobs is an active member of the Birmingham Area Optometric Society, Alabama Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Jacobs diagnoses and manages complex eye diseases and performs pre- and post-operative examinations for a variety of surgical procedures including laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and other anterior segment eye problems.
